David and Victoria Beckham recreate iconic purple wedding look for 25th anniversary

David and Victoria Beckham are one of the most established couples in the sports and entertainment industry. Despite some problems in their relationship, such as rumours of infidelity on the part of the former soccer player, the pair have been married for more than two decades.

“Look what we found…”

Today, Thursday July 4, the Beckhams celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary – and have marked the occasion with a nod to one of the most iconic images from their 1999 nuptials. In a joint post on Instagram, they shared a photo in which they recreate the memorable scene in which they pictured sitting on thrones, sporting eye-catching get-up.

A quarter of a century ago, Victoria dazzled in a purple dress with a strap covered in roses and a red lining. The singer-turned-designer accessorized with strappy silver heels. Meanwhile, David wore a purple double-breasted suit with a matching shirt and suede shoes of the same color.

Now, Victoria and David are back in their iconic outfits. “Look what we found…” they wrote in the photo caption. It is not clear if they are the exact Antonio Berardi outfits they wore in 1999. On their wedding day, Victoria also wore a satin Vera Wang dress, while David opted for an all-white ensemble.

The Beckhams’ relationship: a brief timeline

The couple began dating in 1997. They announced their engagement in 1998, the same year in which they announced that they would become parents. In March 1999, they welcomed their first child, Brooklyn.

On July 4, 1999, the couple married at Luttrellstown Castle outside Dublin, Ireland. In 2002, the Beckhams announced that they were expecting their second child. In September of that same year, Romeo, was born. In February 2005, their third son, Cruz, was born.

In January 2011, they announced that they were again expecting. That July, Victoria gave birth to their first daughter, Harper Seven. In 2017, they renewed their wedding vows.
