Entertainment briefs | Two bands perform at Siren’s Song – Times-Standard

‘Big Bug Island’

Magenta Mountain and the Mystical A/V Club will present “Big Bug Island” Thursday through Saturday (June 27-29) at the 5th and D Street Theater, 300 Fifth St., Eureka. All shows start at 8 p.m.

The Mystical A/V Club and Magenta Mountain are currently in residence at Dell’Arte International, and are thrilled to be bringing back their freeform frolics to the 5 & D stage after last year’s acclaimed :CTRL+ALT+DELETE” (part of the Outer Fringe Festival).

Tickets can be purchased in advance at www.ncrt.net. The cost is $20 general and $18 for students and seniors.

Two bands perform

Bad Kitty will present two bands, the Rocketz and Dead Drift, Friday at 8 p.m. at the Siren’s Song Tavern, 325 Second St., Eureka. Admission for this all-ages show is $10.

Longtime punk rockabilly veterans, the Rocketz have just returned from a tour of the UK and Ireland. Local favorites Dead Drift are also on the bill with their blend of surf and punk rock.

‘Soul Night’

“Soul Night” with blues legend Johnny Rawls will be presented July 6 from 7 to 10 p.m. at The Historic Eagle House, corner of Second and C streets, Eureka. Admission is $10.

Opening for Rawls will be local favorites Jenni & David & The Sweet Soul Band. Backing Rawls on stage will be Justin Hobart Brown, David Childers, Paul DeMark and Good Rockin’ Derral Alexander, who will be bringing his sax and joining in the fun.
