The Bookseller – News – Mushens Entertainment to represent the Azantian Literary Agency

Mushens Entertainment is to work with Azantian Literary Agency to sell its list of novels into translation markets. Effective immediately, Mushens Entertainment will be the agency handling ALA translation rights, as well as partnering to bring select titles into the UK market.

This is the first time that Mushens Entertainment has sold another agency’s rights since its inception in 2020. Jennifer Azantian established Azantian Literary in 2014 to guide the careers of both new and established voices in fiction and non-fiction across genres and all age ranges, particularly those who have been historically underrepresented.

Azantian represents bestselling and award-winning writers, such as Shannon Chakraborty (The Adventures of Amina Al-Sarafi, The City of Brass), Chelsea Abdullah (The Stardust Thief), Lynette Noni (The Prison Healer), A L Graziadei (Icebreaker, In Repair), Sara Hashem (The Jased Heir), Esme Symes-Smith (Sir Callie and the Champions of Helston) and more.

Azantian said: “I’ve admired Juliet and the incredible team at Mushens Entertainment from afar for a long time, and I’m honoured they want to bring ALA’s books to a wider global audience alongside their amazing titles.”

Juliet Mushens added: “I love ALA’s list – full of enormously successful books I enjoy as a reader, which we feel confident we can help bring to an even wider international audience. Jennifer shares our ambition and global vision for her clients, and this feels like a perfect partnership.”

Mushens Entertainment said it had already had its first two foreign pre-empts, within a fortnight of beginning to work together.
